The Bishkek City Court considered the complaint of Olzhobai Shakir’s lawyers about the legality and validity of the journalist’s detention. Lawyer Bakyt Avtandil uulu told 24.kg news agency.
According to him, the second instance upheld the decision of the Pervomaisky District Court of the capital. Thus, the journalist’s detention was recognized as legal.
The journalist Olzhobai Shakir was detained on August 23 by State Committee for National Security. He is accused of calls for active disobedience to law enforcement officers, mass riots and an attempt to seize power.
Earlier, Olzhobai Shakir called on citizens to hold a rally. He intended to organize a protest on August 31. The journalist said that he opposed the transfer of four resorts in Issyk-Kul region to Uzbekistan.
