Ex-deputy of Parliament of Kyrgyzstan Omurbek Bakirov was charged with bribery of voters. Lawyer Nazgul Suyunbayeva told 24.kg news agency.
According to her, the investigator of the Internal Affairs Department of Osh region chose a measure of restraint for the former deputy in the form of a written undertaking not to leave the country.
«We consider the charge brought unfounded. Omurbek Bakirov refused to sign a non-disclosure agreement on the data of the investigation. Earlier, the Department of Internal Affairs of Osh region opened a criminal case on the fact of bribery of voters. But there was no bribery. Two people were brought to criminal responsibility. The latter said in court that they did not know my client, and he does not know them either,» Nazgul Suyunbayeva said.
Earlier, the Central Election Commission deprived Omurbek Bakirov of his deputy mandate. On August 18, the Supreme Court upheld the decision that annulled the results of the elections in Kok-Dzhar constituency No. 4, in which deputy Omurbek Bakirov was elected. He was taken for interrogation to the Internal Affairs Department of Osh region.
