More than 900 road accidents involving children have occurred in Kyrgyzstan since the beginning of 2023. Press service of the Main Traffic Safety Department reported.
Such traffic accidents include hitting of underage pedestrians, accidents where the passengers were children.
More than 40 children died, more than 1,000 received various injuries.
«Since the beginning of the year, 53 percent of children — passengers out of the total number of minors involved in road accidents have died. At least 416 traffic accidents, where the passengers were children, were recorded this year. In each accident, the absence of seat belts and car seats for children or violation of the rules for their use was recorded. As a result, 22 children were killed and more than 500 children were injured,» the department said.
The Main Traffic Safety Department reminded that, according to the rules of the road, it is forbidden to transport children under 12:
- In the back seat of a motorcycle;
- In the back of a truck with an onboard platform;
- In the front seat of a car in the absence of a special car seat corresponding to the child’s height and weight.
The department noted that the installation of car seats for children and placement of children in them must be in accordance with the requirements of the manual for the operation of vehicles and car seats for children.
