Explosion in Makhachkala: Sadyr Japarov expresses condolences to Vladimir Putin

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov expressed condolences to the Russian President Vladimir Putin over the human casualties as a result of an explosion at a gas station in Dagestan.

«On behalf of the Kyrgyz people and on my own behalf, I offer my deepest condolences in connection with human casualties as a result of an explosion at a gas station in Dagestan. Sharing the pain and bitterness of irreparable loss, I ask you to convey sincere words of support to the families and friends of the victims. I wish a speedy recovery to all the injured,» the head of state said in telegram.

The explosion occurred on the evening of August 14 at the gas station on the outskirts of Makhachkala. The death toll rose to 35, the bodies of five more people were found under the rubble at the site of the explosion. About 75 people received various injuries.

The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under the article on the provision of services that do not meet safety requirements and resulted in the death of two or more people (Part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code).

The head of Dagestan announced that the families of the deceased would be paid one million rubles each as material assistance from the reserve fund of the republic. Citizens who received serious and minor bodily harm will be paid a compensation in the amount of 400,000 and 200,000 rubles.

Day of mourning was declared in Dagestan on August 15.
