Finland sharply increases exports of trucks to Kyrgyzstan

Finland has sharply increased exports of trucks to Central Asian countries, including Kazakhstan bordering Russia, and Kyrgyzstan. Kauppalehti newspaper reports.

According to journalists, if from 2002 to 2022 Finland delivered only seven truck tractors to Kazakhstan, then last year alone it delivered 67.

Thirty-three trucks were exported to Kyrgyzstan from Finland, compared to three in the previous 20 years.

Used semi-trailer tractors are most often exported to countries in the region, and it is unclear who is driving the trucks through the territory of Finland, the media outlet said.

About a half of the exports crossing the Finnish-Russian border come from other EU countries, Finnish customs officials say.

After the start of war in Ukraine, MAN and Scania truck manufacturers, part of Traton Group, the truck division of Volskwagen group, withdrew from Russia, transferring assets in the country to Russian distributors.
