Over 7,000 families participate in Food in Exchange for Labor project

More than 7,000 families took part in Food in Exchange for Labor project. Press service of the Ministry of Labor, Social Security and Migration of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The ministry recalled that the project is implemented with the support of the UN World Food Program.

«Within its framework, 278 infrastructural, training and income-generating projects have already been implemented. They involved 7,025 low-income families, or 37,939 people. The participants received flour and vegetable oil for their participation in works on restoration of irrigation systems and cleaning of irrigation ditches, construction of bridges and roads in their villages. A total of 1,900 tons of food products were handed over,» the statement says.

At least 79 tons of flour and vegetable oil were also handed over to residential care facilities, where elderly citizens, adults and children with disabilities live.
