Employees of the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Russia visited 63 compatriots held in pre-trial detention centers over six months. Press service of the Foreign Affairs Ministry reported.
Kyrgyzstanis are being held in pre-trial detention centers in Moscow, Krasnoyarsk, Nizhnevartovsk, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, St. Petersburg, Surgut, Volgograd, Orenburg and Smolensk Oblasts.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 153 convicted Kyrgyzstanis who are serving sentences in prisons of Buryatia, Khakassia, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, Kamchatka, Zabaikalsky Krai, Krasnoyarsk Krai (Krasnoyarsk and Norilsk), Volgograd, Irkutsk, Smolensk, Kirov, Voronezh, Ivanovo, Sakhalin, Kaluga and Nizhny Novgorod Oblasts.
«Diplomats also helped 228 compatriots to draw up appeals and cassation complaints against sentences and other petitions to the judicial authorities of the Russian Federation. Legal assistance was provided to 7,384 Kyrgyzstanis, and 39 court hearings were attended,» the ministry added.
