Doctor Nitin Hatwal from India about his life in Kyrgyzstan

Doctor Nitin Hatwal came to Kyrgyzstan in 2010 to study. He entered the Medical Academy, successfully graduated from it and now works as a pulmonologist in the country.

Nitin Hatwal told that he misses his native India. But over the years of his stay in the Kyrgyz Republic, he managed to make friends here, fell in love with this small mountainous republic and its capital Bishkek with Erkindik Boulevard.

— What surprised you when you got to know our country better?

— The most surprising thing for me is that Kyrgyzstan has natural resources like gold, coal, minerals, with a population of just 7 million citizens, but still it’s one of the poorest countries in the whole Central Asia.

— What do you like in the country?

— In Kyrgyzstan I noticed that the people respect the elders a lot, the same as in India. That’s really pleasant.

— What do you miss in Kyrgyzstan?

— I miss my school friends, my family members a lot.

— Do you have a favorite place in Bishkek?

— My favorite place in Bishkek is Erkindik Boulevard.

— Do you like national cuisine? Name your favorite dishes, if any.

Well, that’s quite difficult to answer, because I have never tried the Kyrgyz national dishes. I am a pure vegetarian. I never eat meat, chicken, beef, pork, seafood, not even eggs.

— Is there something you are afraid to try?

— I would never try horse and dog meat.

— What has fascinated you in close acquaintance with the local population?

— The fascinating fact about the local people (the civilized/ educated ones) is that they are humble and kind towards the foreigners.

— And what disappointed?

— The most disappointing thing is political instability, huge corruption and a bit insecurity for the foreigners.
