Sadyr Japarov gets acquainted with process of cleaning Issyk-Kul lake

The President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov got acquainted with the process of cleaning Issyk-Kul lake from fishing nets and the water area of the lake from garbage. Press service of the President reported.

Together with the Minister of Emergency Situations Boobek Azhikeev and a group of divers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the head of state personally inspected the work being carried out.

The President was informed that since March of this year, according to his instructions, about 100 kilometers of poaching nets have been removed from the lake as well as about 6.8 tons of garbage from the bottom.

Such a volume of fishing gear and household waste was collected in less than four months only in the water area from Dzheti-Oguz district to Cholpon-Ata.

At present, work on cleaning the lake is being carried out in western direction, then it will continue on the southern shore and will be completed by October.

During the inspection, divers found more than 500 meters of old and new fishing nets for three hours, which will be recycled.

Sadyr Japarov noted the difficult work of the employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in preserving the aquatic ecosystem of Issyk-Kul, as well as the environmental police and other services in the fight against poaching. He emphasized the special importance of the work being done and instructed to continue regular patrolling of the water area even after the end of the summer tourist season.

Citizens of the country were urged to take care of natural attractions, tourist places and not to throw garbage.
