National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan to change GDP calculations

The National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan switches to the main changes in GDP calculations in accordance with the international standard of the System of National Accounts 2008.

«We are confident that the switch to the 2008 System of National Accounts standards will allow us to obtain more accurate and comparable data that will serve as the basis for making rational economic decisions and developing effective development strategies,» Baktybek Kudaibergenov, Chairman of the National Statistical Committee, said.

The First Deputy Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev said that an information base is being formed thanks to statistical information that is necessary to determine the country’s development trends and make informed management decisions. According to him, one of the main indicators for analyzing the state of the economy is the gross domestic product (GDP) of the republic, which is a complex aggregate indicator of all sectors of the economy.

The System of National Accounts standards take into account changes that affect the rate, volume and structure of GDP, allowing to get high-quality and reliable results, as well as to compare all indicators at the international level.

Adylbek Kasymaliev added that against the backdrop of changes taking place in the country and in the world in the field of digitalization, the National Statistical Committee needs to keep up with the times through the introduction of new technologies for collecting and processing data.

«Digitalization of the activities of the National Statistical Committee is one of the priority issues, since digital transformation helps to accelerate and improve the processes of collecting, processing and analyzing information, increases the accuracy and reliability of statistical data, quality and efficiency of decisions made and simplifies the interaction between government bodies,» he stressed.
