Parents of convicted migrants in Russia are forced to go to the country to work there. Mother of one of them, Gulmira Shakenova, told at a roundtable on migration.
According to her, there are much more people serving sentences in Russian prisons than the official statistics says.
«Many of them were detained with drugs. They are young people. Some girls don’t even tell their parents about it. They are ashamed. Therefore, some missing Kyrgyzstanis are in Russian prisons. There are no children of the rich, all are poor, some are the only children in the family. To be close to the child, parents are also forced to go to the Russian Federation, wash the floors and send packages to the prison,» Gulmira Shakenova told.
«One guy was sentenced to eight years in prison the day before. He does not believe that he will be able to return, and said that he would go to Ukraine,» said another parent, Asel Asanova.
Parents of convicted migrants proposed to introduce a migration lesson in schools, complained about the work of the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Russia to the Supreme Court.
