At least 19 convicted Kyrgyzstanis have been extradited from Russia since the beginning of 2023. Director of the Consular Department, Almaz Bukalaev, announced at the round table «Migration and crime: interconnectedness of causes and conditions», «Women and migration: causes, challenges, consequences».
According to him, 38 Kyrgyzstanis are expected to be extradited to their homeland.
Almaz Bukalaev noted that 459 convicts refused extradition.
Last year, 33 citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic were transferred to their homeland to continue serving their sentences.
According to the official, migrants get into unpleasant situations due to low legal culture and illiteracy. He proposes to carry out explanatory work among migrants with the involvement of representatives of the Spiritual Directorate of the Muslims of Kyrgyzstan.
