Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Edil Baisalov met with the Chairman of the Union of Writers of the Russian Federation Nikolai Ivanov. Press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported.
The parties discussed issues of cultural interaction in all areas of mutual interest, paying special attention to specific projects and initiatives aimed at developing literary activity and cultural exchange between the two countries.
«The people of Kyrgyzstan have preserved their love for the great Russian literature. We still learn world culture and art mainly through the Russian language. Today we are faced with the task of continuing the mutual enrichment of cultures. Based on this, the leadership of the republic has set the task of developing a large state program to support the literary community and publishing activities. In the coming years, it is planned to release and distribute in the Kyrgyz and Russian languages works of both our classics and modern authors. We are counting on the cooperation and support of Russian writers, critics and translators in this important matter,» said Edil Baisalov.
They also discussed a number of joint events in preparation for the large-scale celebration of the 100th anniversary of the great Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov in 2028.
