Workers of Khaidarkan Mercury Plant started a warning strike this morning due to non-payment of wages. The Chairman of the Central Committee of the Mining and Metallurgical Trade Union Eldar Tadzhibaev told.
According to him, in January and February they already held strikes demanding repayment of wage arrears. Then part of the salary was paid. But at present, the employees have not received their salaries for February, the wage arrears reach more than 12 million soms. There are problems with the provision of spare parts for equipment and technical means, explosives, provision of employees with work clothes and protective equipment.
More than 600 people work at the plant. An agreement was signed with the Turkish company Duvatash LLC on joint activities for the extraction and processing of mercury, antimony and fluorite. But partners had problems with financing.
«The Mining and Metallurgical Trade Union of Kyrgyzstan appeals to the management of Duvatash LLC to pay off wage arrears, and to government agencies with a request to provide the necessary assistance to investors. At the same time, explanatory work is being carried out with employees about the need to resume the production process and resolve collective labor disputes exclusively through negotiations,» Eldar Tadzhibaev said.
