The Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan has formed a team of highly qualified specialists from tertiary-level medical organizations — a neurosurgeon, traumatologist, resuscitator-anaesthesiologist, vascular surgeon, general surgeon to send them to Turkey. Press center of the ministry reported.
«Turkey always extends a helping hand when we need it, and in such a difficult period for our brothers, we are obliged to support them. Therefore, the team of doctors will go to the affected areas of Turkey to provide medical assistance to people,» said Minister of Health Gulnara Baatyrova.
The department added that doctors would work in a mobile hospital of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan. They will be provided with medicines and first-aid materials. Humanitarian cargo in the form of medicines and medical devices will also be sent.
«In addition, medical workers will transfer one-day wages to those affected by the earthquake in Turkey,» the ministry added.
Two earthquakes of magnitude 7.8 and 7.5 hit southern Turkey on February 6 near Gaziantep city, where more than a million people live. Dozens of aftershocks were registered in Syria, Georgia and other countries.
The Turkish Embassy in Kyrgyzstan announced collection of humanitarian aid. A single deposit account has been opened in Kyrgyzstan to raise funds to help the victims. The number of victims of the earthquake in Turkey exceeded 20,000 people, more than 80,000 were injured. Nearly 4,000 people are reported dead in Syria.
