Incidence of ARVI, influenza decreases in Kyrgyzstan

Incidence of acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) and influenza has almost halved in Kyrgyzstan. The Department of Disease Prevention and State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance reported.

According to it, 7,981 cases were registered in the first week of 2023, from January 2 to January 8, in the republic. There is a decrease of 2.1 times compared to the 52nd week of 2022 (17,140 cases).

The department noted that a person, who has had an acute respiratory viral infection, if simple preventive rules are not followed, can become infected with other types of ARVI.

Epidemiologists recommend the following preventive measures:

  • Wear masks and observe social distancing;
  • Observe respiratory hygiene — covering the mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing with tissues and their subsequent proper removal;
  • Timely self-isolation of people who feel unwell, with high fever and other flu-like symptoms;
  • Compliance with sanitary and hygienic measures (hand hygiene, regular ventilation of premises, wet cleaning, etc.).
