More than 1.8 million of young trees have been planted in Kyrgyzstan since the beginning of the year as part of Zhashyl Muras national program. Press service of the Ministry of Agriculture reported.
«3,600 saplings of coniferous species have been planted in Ala-Archa National Park. A community work day was held in Boz-Boltok area, 12,000 hardwood seedlings were planted on an area of 21 hectares. At least 1,400 apple trees on an area of 5 hectares and 4,400 coniferous trees on an area of 6.5 hectares were planted in Ak-Beshim and Kegeti forestry of the Chui forest hunting enterprise,» the statement says.
At the initiative of the youth association «Students for Green Economy», campaigns were held in all regions of the republic to plant saplings of tree species. As part of this initiative, 44,700 trees have been planted.
«3,300 poplars and 200 seedlings of Batken apricots were planted on the unproductive lands of Balykchy forestry on an area of 1.5 hectares. In total, within the framework of the national campaign Zhashyl Muras, the forestries of the republic planted 1,833,210 trees; 687,000 seedlings were handed over for planting trees and shrubs in cities and villages,» the ministry said.
In March, President Sadyr Japarov launched Zhashyl Muras national campaign throughout Kyrgyzstan as part of the International Year of Sustainable Mountain Development and the Year of Protection of Mountain Ecosystems and Climate Resilience.
