The Ministry of Energy will spend the entire amount of the loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) on the purchase of electricity. Deputy Minister Sabyrbek Sultanbekov announced at a meeting of the Parliament.
According to him, it is planned to import electricity for 4.4 billion soms.
«$50 million is for electricity imports only. We have another agreement on the import of coal. To date, we import for 2.5 billion soms. We import from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan,» the official said.
Sabyrbek Sultanbekov said that Kazakhstan returned electricity for this year under a barter agreement. Now Kyrgyzstan is buying electricity, preliminary, for 450 million soms.
Recall, the Cabinet of Ministers takes $ 50 million from the ADB to support the budget and transfers it to the energy sector. Half of the amount is a loan, the other half is a grant. ADB allocates funds for 24 years at 1-1.5 percent.
This week, the Minister of Energy Taalay Ibraev noted that, in addition to import of electricity, part of the amount would be used to purchase coal for Bishkek Heating and Power Plant.
