Foreign Ministry asks Lithuania to assist in export of Kyrgyz products to Europe

Deputy Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan Aibek Moldogaziev asked Lithuania to assist in export of domestic products to the markets of the European Union. Press service of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Kyrgyzstan reports.

According to it, Aibek Moldogaziev met with the Vice President of the Confederation of Industrialists of the Republic of Lithuania Romas Austinskas in Vilnius.

The parties discussed the possibilities of developing trade and economic cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Lithuania.

Aibek Moldogaziev told about the implementation of the Generalized Scheme of Preferences (GSP+), the EU program that allows its participants to export commodity items to the EU territory without duty.

The official asked to assist Kyrgyzstan in the effective implementation of this program in terms of the entry of domestic products into the markets of Lithuania and the EU countries, focusing on the importance of further extending the country’s official participation in the GSP+ from 2023.

He also expressed interest in cooperation with Lithuania in the field of urban and regional development, hydropower, tourism, information technology, transport and logistics.

Representatives of the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists were told about a liberal legislative framework that had been created in Kyrgyzstan to attract and protect the rights of foreign investors.

The parties agreed that it was necessary to intensify contacts between entrepreneurs of the two countries. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic invited Lithuanian businessmen to visit Kyrgyzstan on a business mission for a substantive discussion of cooperation.
