Sadyr Japarov makes speech at session of CSTO Collective Security Council

In a period of complex and total changes in the global security system, when a wide range of political, economic, information, military methods and means are used, it is necessary to consistently intensify cooperation to ensure a timely response to the changing situation. President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov stated this in Yerevan (Armenia) at the regular session of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).

According to his press service, he also drew attention to the fact that the ideas of extremism were actively used, transnational organized crime was becoming more active, which created new epicenters of the crisis that directly threatened the security of all members of the organization.

According to Sadyr Japarov, Kyrgyzstan is interested in strengthening the potential of the CSTO as a multifunctional regional structure to maintain security and stability in the region.

The country considers an increase in the political component and strengthening the international image of the CSTO as one of the important conditions.

The head of state emphasized that the Kyrgyz Republic has always been committed to the position on the need to resolve any disagreements exclusively by political and diplomatic methods, at the negotiating table.

In addition, Sadyr Japarov drew the attention of the heads of the CSTO member states to the need to consolidate efforts to ensure security at internal borders, taking into account the Afghan factor. Terrorism poses a serious threat to the security of the CSTO member states. He noted that the joint training of command and control bodies and formations of forces, means of the organization’s collective security system should be aimed at anti-terrorist topics. At the same time, the successful holding of Cobalt-2022 exercises in the current year on the territory of Kyrgyzstan with the participation of special forces units of the CSTO member states was noted.

Sadyr Japarov assured that the Kyrgyz side was further ready to contribute to the improvement of joint operational and combat training to strengthen the collective security system, as well as to timely and effective response to attempts of negative influence from outside.

He stressed that the military-political union celebrated its 30th anniversary this year. Depending on the situation, pressing issues that need to be addressed together are on the agenda, and he expressed hope that the right conclusions would be drawn and that it would be possible not only to maintain, but also to increase joint efforts to improve the efficiency of the organization.

The President confirmed the interest of Kyrgyzstan in strengthening the potential of the CSTO as an effective mechanism for regional security and that it was ready for further joint actions to improve the collective security system.
