Residents of Chechme village in Kadamdzhai district oppose transfer of one hectare of land to Uzbekistan. Deputy Sultanbai Aizhigitov announced at a meeting of Parliament.
According to him, this section has never caused disputes between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
«Last year, there was a clash between local residents at this site. But the land plot has never been disputed. Despite this, they decided to transfer it. Why are we giving away undisputed lands?» Sultanbai Aizhigitov said.
The agreement on separate sections of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border includes four water resources in the border zone: Orto-Tokoi, Kempir-Abad, Gavasai river and Chechme spring.
Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan have agreed to jointly use Chechme spring, which is located in Kadamdzhai district near Sokh enclave.
