The Jalal-Abad human rights organization Spravedlivost (Justice) conducted a survey «Domestic Violence». Respondents were asked ten simple questions.
The problem of domestic violence worries women much more. Citizens from 25 to 34 years old were most interested in the survey, respondents aged 35-44 were in the second place, and 45-54 years old — in the third.
At least 86 percent of respondents believe that there are many cases of domestic violence in Kyrgyzstan. Every third person was exposed to it.
More than half of respondents noted that cases of domestic violence should be covered in the media. At the same time, 90 percent are against the violent method of education and control.
Most of them still do not know where to turn in case of domestic violence. But at the same time, almost half pins their hopes on the police, and only a third — on local activists.
Almost 70 percent of those surveyed have experienced cases of domestic violence among relatives and friends. At the same time, 80 percent of respondents answered that state bodies are ineffective in combating domestic violence, because victims in most cases remain defenseless.
