The Park of Friendship between Kyrgyzstan and South Korea will appear in the capital. It was announced at a regular session of the Bishkek City Council.
Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Kyrgyzstan Lee Won-jae spoke at the meeting. He recalled that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. «During this entire period and this year, a large number of cultural and humanitarian events have been held. It would be great to end this year with a significant event — renaming of the Physical Culture Park into the Park of Friendship between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Korea,» he said.
During discussion of the issue, deputy Kazybek Ergeshov asked whether Korea would invest in improvement of the green zone. «Mostly oaks grow there, they turn yellow in summer. There is no irrigation system there,» he said.
Chairman of the Bishkek City Council Kuvanychbek Kongantiev noted that the issue of park’s renaming is no the agenda now. According to him, earlier the Korean side has already invested about $20,000 in the park.
As a result, the deputies approved the draft resolution on naming the park.
