More than 60 residents of Dzhany-Dzher village held a protest near the building of the State Registration Service in Sokuluk. The protesters demanded to solve the land issue. One of the protesters told 24.kg news agency.
«In Soviet times, a branch of Cholpon shoe factory and a children’s shoe factory Bobok worked in the village. After its collapse, the land and pastures around the factories were sold. People built houses on them. Recently, we learned that based on the decision of the district councils in 1988, Altyn Seidakhmatova, a citizen, sold the pasture and all the land of Bobok factory. We were left with nothing.
We are assured that our documents for land are invalid. We applied to Sokuluk branch of Cadastre state institution, they said that they had issued the documents by mistake. How is this possible? People live in houses for 60-70 years. People are not expelled, but they are forced to make other documents, and it costs money. It is several times more expensive — instead of 5,000 they have to pay 85,000 soms,» he told.
Earlier, the villagers sent an open letter addressed to Sadyr Japarov. They asked the head of state to annul the decision of the 1988 Sokuluk District Council, and also demand from Altyn Seidakhmatova to transfer the land to the balance of the rural administration. Appeals were also sent to the State Committee for National Security and the Prosecutor General’s Office. However, all the demands remained unanswered.
