Akylbek Japarov urges EAEU to create comfortable conditions for business

«We need to create the most comfortable conditions for business in our domestic markets to compensate difficulties in foreign markets,» Akylbek Japarov, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, said at a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in an expanded format.

According to him, the economies of the EAEU countries are undergoing serious changes. This is due to the difficult conditions of foreign economic activity, transformation of supply chains and financial settlements, and unilateral sanctions pressure on strategic partners in the Union. At the same time, Akylbek Japarov said that the anti-crisis measures taken in the EAEU have demonstrated their effectiveness.

«Despite significant external adverse factors, we managed to avoid a sharp decline in the all-Union GDP. According to the results of eight months, it remained almost at the level of the same period last year. Positive indicators are observed in industrial production, the potential of the Union in the production of agricultural products is being strengthened. There is a positive trend in the inflow of investments into the EAEU states. The number of unemployed decreased by 28.2 percent. Real wages throughout the Union tend to grow,» Akylbek Japarov said.

He recalled that the forecasts for economic development in the world are not very encouraging. A sharp decline in growth and a recession in the global economy is expected in the coming years. If mitigating measures are not taken, the EAEU economies may face more serious challenges.

«In this regard, I believe that a high-level working group created to increase the stability of the economies of the EAEU states should constantly monitor the economic situation at the global and regional levels and, if necessary, propose the necessary package of anti-crisis measures,» the head of the Cabinet concluded.
