Rules for labeling goods in EAEU simplified until September 1, 2023

Simplification of labeling rules may be applied in the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) until September 1, 2023. This decision was made by the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).

It was decided to give the possibility of applying the EAC mark on products and labeling with information for consumers about ingredients, expiration date, information about the manufacturer after the import of products — passing through customs procedures. In this case, the marking must be applied to the product before it is sold to the consumer (purchaser).

Based on the decision of the EEC Council, until September 1, 2023, the governments of the EAEU countries may establish specifics for determining the procedure and cases for submitting conformity assessment documents (information on such documents) to the customs authorities when placing products under customs procedures. The nationally established features of the import of products subject to mandatory conformity assessment on the territory of the EAEU cannot exclude the obligation to comply with the requirements of the technical regulations of the EAEU.

«The decision was made as part of the implementation of a list of measures to increase the stability of the economies of the EAEU states, including ensuring macroeconomic stability. The measure taken is necessary to maintain a stable supply of goods in the markets of the EAEU countries, against which economic sanctions have been imposed,» the EEC commented.
