Director of the Central Asian Research Institute on Corruption and Money Laundering, Erkaiym Mambetaliyeva, noted contradictions in the document. In addition, it does not comply with treaty obligations signed at the international level.
«The bill carries corruption risks. We are signatories of many international conventions. Adoption of the law may contribute to inclusion of Kyrgyzstan in the gray list of the national anti-money laundering system. The bill is contrary to the principles of financial measures to combat money laundering. This can lead the country to huge problems. Yes, there is international experience, but it requires a clear development of mechanisms that counteract money laundering. In fact, this is the legalization of corruption,» Erkaim Mambetaliyeva said.
