«Kyrgyzstan is interested in the progressive development of cooperation in «Central Asia — Russia» format, in joint efforts to comprehensively develop key areas of cooperation in trade, economic, investment, transport and logistics, energy, agriculture, cultural, humanitarian, and migration areas,» the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov said at the first Central Asia + Russia summit.
The President noted the need to maintain a political dialogue, find mutually acceptable ways to resolve pressing issues, and promote interests in a consolidated manner in international and regional organizations. He also touched upon the Afghan problem, which remains relevant at the international and regional levels.
As Sadyr Japarov noted, Afghanistan is facing a deep social, economic and humanitarian crisis.
Therefore, the entire international community is faced with the task of avoiding a repetition of the past bitter experience and putting an end to the many years of bloody military conflict in this country.
«Kyrgyzstan, as a country traditionally friendly to Afghanistan, adhering to the principle of non-interference in internal affairs, is interested in a stable and prosperous Afghanistan. We have always made and will continue to make efforts to establish peace in this country. We are in regular contact with the current authorities of Afghanistan and continue our diverse interaction. It is important for the international community to revive and strengthen the Afghan economy, assist in its involvement in interregional economic processes, promote the implementation of socially significant infrastructure and regional energy projects, such as CASA-1000, TAPI, as well as further development regional transport corridors,» the head of state stressed.
He also urged to support Roza Otunbayeva, who was appointed a Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Afghanistan and head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), to assist in the implementation of her mandate.
Sadyr Japarov expressed confidence that her appointment to the high UN post would have a beneficial effect on the process of restoring peace and stability in Afghanistan.
