President Sadyr Japarov comments on Kempir-Abad issue

Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan will jointly control Kempir-Abad reservoir. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov wrote on his Facebook page.

According to him, the details of the agreement with Uzbekistan on the border will be known after its ratification in the Parliament.

«God willing, the agreement will be signed and ratified by the Parliament in the near future. After that, we will announce which sections of the border have been transferred to us. Wait a bit. 99 percent of all disputed areas are transferred to us. If earlier Uzbekistan controlled Kempir-Abad reservoir, now a joint venture with equal share participation will be created and we will manage the dam together. We lowered the water level, so we freed up 1,246 hectares of land that are being transferred to us,» Japarov wrote.

The head of state notes that when all the information about the agreement on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border is provided, the people will be thankful.

«We will report on the rest of the border sections later. Take this news with joy, you will have no complaints, only gratitude. We have not given a single centimeter of land. On the contrary, they did. In 100 years, history will show that our decision was right and in the interests of the Kyrgyz people. We are not traitors who gave away Karkyra and Tort-Kocho. Therefore, I warn: those who excite the people around the Kempir-Abad issue, regain consciousness. I instruct law enforcement agencies to take strict measures against those who incite the people. Spoiledness also has a limit. Don’t cross the line,» he added.

Sadyr Japarov invited citizens who advocate for the preservation of Kempir-Abad reservoir to the administration of Uzgen district.

«We are ready to show documents at any time and explain everything to them. At yesterday’s meeting, many supported us, except for eight. We, of course, know who is against it and their goal. Give up your evil intentions,» the president wrote.
