Armenia announces truce with Azerbaijan

Armenia and Azerbaijan reached an agreement on truce. Interfax reports, citing the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan.

«Thanks to the involvement of the international community, it was possible to reach an agreement on a truce from 8 p.m. on September 14. We hope Azerbaijan will comply with the agreement,» Armen Grigoryan said.

According to him, there is no document or agreement that is being prepared for signing with Azerbaijan.

The Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia called the organizers of a rally in Yerevan, who announced signing of a document by the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan with Azerbaijan, a «fifth column».

«This is a rally of the fifth column, which aims to weaken the statehood of Armenia. Some groups are trying to stage a rally for the purpose of domestic political destabilization. These groups are trying to weaken Armenia and receive orders from various places,» Grigoryan said.

He stated that «the purpose of Azerbaijan’s aggression is to weaken Armenia, to force certain concessions.»

«There are many issues on this agenda, but the main one is the sovereignty of Armenia, they want to destroy the statehood of Armenia, and Azerbaijan is happy to participate in this process. Thanks to our army and the reaction of the state, we managed to stop the implementation of this big plan, and after that certain groups are trying to start processes inside Armenia,» the Secretary of the Armenian Security Council said.

Situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border aggravated on Tuesday night. Armenia announced aggression by Azerbaijan, Baku called it a provocation by Yerevan. According to the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, 49 Armenian servicemen were killed as a result of night battles, while Azerbaijan reported 50 killed servicemen.
