According to the headquarters, an increase in the incidence has been observed in Kyrgyzstan since the end of June.
«Most of the citizens have no symptoms, the coronavirus is detected in many of them when they take a PCR test to travel abroad. Nevertheless, there are cases of hospitalization of patients. People with a weakened immune system, the elderly over 60 and those with chronic diseases are most susceptible to a severe course of the disease. At the same time, no deaths from coronavirus have been recorded in recent months. Of course, this is due to the readiness of the healthcare system and ongoing preventive measures, in particular, vaccination against COVID-19,» the message says.
WHO expects a tense epidemiological situation in the autumn-winter period. Therefore, citizens need to be vaccinated, get a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by September. At least 40 percent of the population is planned to be vaccinated in Kyrgyzstan by the end of December.
«The country has a large number of doses of Sinopharm vaccine. The republic will receive other types of the vaccines under COVAX, our population will have a choice. But I would like to urge citizens not to waste time, but to get vaccinated with the vaccine that is already available. Sinopharm is used for both the 1st and 2nd doses, as well as for the booster dose. We want to express our gratitude to our citizens who have already got vaccinated. Now we urge them to get a booster dose,» Gulbara Ishenapysova, director of the Republican Immunoprophylaxis Center, told.
About 100,620 doses of Pfizer vaccine against COVID-19 are expected to be delivered to Kyrgyzstan under the COVAX at the beginning of August.
