History, geography and literature textbooks for the Turkic world have been developed. The Ministry of Education and Science of Kyrgyzstan reported.
According to it, a final decision was made on the textbooks «General Turkic History», «General Turkic Literature» and «Geography of the Turkic World» at the regular 5th meeting of the Scientific Council of the International Turkic Academy in the city of Nur-Sultan.
«The textbooks aimed at increasing cooperation in the field of education between the fraternal countries have been prepared in accordance with the instructions of the Summit of the Heads of the Turkic states. In accordance with the protocol adopted by the Scientific Council in Nur-Sultan this year, the parties will approve the programs and texts of common textbooks, organize events to ensure their use in secondary education institutions of their countries and popularization among students,» the ministry noted.
The Minister of Education of Kazakhstan Askhat Aimagambetov said at the meeting that these subjects would not be mandatory. «The new textbooks are an additional opportunity for students and teachers to study the common history of the Turkic countries. It’s about electives. A team of authors worked on the textbooks, and our Kazakh scientists are widely represented in it. In addition, it is important for us to ensure the correlation between the textbooks of our country and the Turkic Academy,» Forbes.kz quoted the official as saying.
«General Turkic History» textbook contains a chronology of development of the Turkic peoples until the 15th century and consists of 7 sections. The book «Geography of the Turkic World» gives an idea of their settlement at different times. «General Turkic Literature» is intended to give students an idea of the cultural values of the Turks.
The ministry added that participants of the meeting discussed the list of anniversaries of the Turkic world, common textbooks, cooperation in the field of education and science, research projects, priority areas. The significant dates of the Turkic world in 2022 include the 140th anniversary of the Kyrgyz statesman Ishenaly Arabaev.
