Drug trafficking channel blocked by security forces of Kyrgyzstan and Russia

The Minister of Internal Affairs of Russia Vladimir Kolokoltsev announced blocking of the international channel for the sale of the synthetic drug alpha-PVP at a meeting of the State Anti-Drug Committee. Press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation informed journalists.

According to Vladimir Kolokoltsev, the law enforcement agencies of Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, together with the security department of the Russian Post, stopped the activities of a transnational organized crime group that distributed drugs in the countries of Central Asia and the Russian Federation.

As a result, eight clandestine laboratories were liquidated, the productivity of which was up to 200 kilograms of the drug per month; 600 liters of precursors and approximately 150,000 single doses of the drug weighing 30 kilograms were confiscated.

«The cost of the drug at black market prices exceeds 280 million rubles. The organizer and members of the drug trafficking group were detained, an investigation is underway,» the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.

According to the police, a resident of Omsk Oblast made a solution containing alpha-PVP in his private house, and then sent it by post using forged documents abroad and to other regions of Russia, passing it off as household chemical goods and engine oil. Recipients used the solution to produce drugs in makeshift labs and distribute them via stashes.

Work on the capture of drug dealers was carried out for six months, support was provided by employees of Grom special unit. Criminal cases were opened against 20 detained drug dealers.

Alpha-PVP was first produced in the middle of the 20th century in Germany. The chemical compound was part of medical preparations that have a stimulating effect on the nervous system. Approximately 10 years ago, alpha-PVP began to be distributed for recreational purposes.
