Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov and the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov met on the sidelines of the Regional Summit on Sustainable Development Goals in Almaty. Press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported.
Akylbek Japarov noted the positive dynamics in the development of Kyrgyz-Kazakh relations. He recalled that the presidents of the two countries set the task of bringing the level of mutual trade to $2 billion. This task is also reflected in the protocol following the results of the 10th meeting of the Intergovernmental Council.
«We have every reason to increase bilateral trade. To do this, it is necessary to revise trade policy, remove the remaining issues in the field of trade and transit of goods. It is extremely important to create favorable conditions for free movement of goods and services between our countries,» said Akylbek Japarov.
He stressed the need to work out in an enhanced mode the regulatory legal framework on the construction of an industrial trade and logistics complex in the area of Ak-Tilek and Karasu road checkpoints.
«In accordance with the agreements reached by the heads of state, it is important for us to make this complex fully operational within a maximum of three years,» the head of the Cabinet added.
Alikhan Smailov confirmed the importance of implementation of the priority areas of bilateral cooperation. The parties also discussed implementation of the agreements reached following the 10th meeting of the Kyrgyz-Kazakh Intergovernmental Council and the official visit of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Kyrgyzstan.
