Korean investors to develop feasibility study for eco-hybrid smart city

The Chairman of the Committee on Environment and Labor, the deputy of the National Assembly of Korea Park Daechul, and management of the Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water) visited a land plot allocated for the project on construction of an eco-hybrid smart city in Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan. The National Investment Agency reports.

The 160-hectare plot is located near the Issyk-Kul International Airport in Tamchi village of Issyk-Kul region. Ravshan Sabirov, head of the National Investment Agency, told the delegation about the scheme of the project.

«The project to create an eco-hybrid smart city in Issyk-Kul region is being implemented under the global cooperation program K-City Network. The program aims to develop cooperation between the Korean government and governments of other countries in the field of smart cities and help share and disseminate Korean experience and technologies abroad. Kyrgyzstan’s application was approved by the Korea Water Resources Corporation in 2022,» the agency said.

The purpose of participation in the competition is to receive technical assistance for the preparation of a master plan and a preliminary feasibility study for the eco-hybrid smart city project in Issyk-Kul region. It is planned to finance the project by attracting foreign investments and through PPP mechanism. The total cost of the project is $500 million.

«After inspecting the land plot, the Korean delegation and Ravshan Sabirov discussed important issues and plans for further cooperation in the implementation of the project for construction of an eco-hybrid smart city in Issyk-Kul region within the global cooperation program K-City Network,» the statement says.
