The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) handed over modern equipment to SotsAgro poultry farm. The new equipment worth 6.8 million Kyrgyz soms will enable SotsAgro to double the production capacity of high-quality poultry and animal feed critical for agricultural production in the country.
«Previously, we used outdated manual equipment. After we installed new equipment, the workflow became easier for employees, productivity is much higher, and, most importantly, the quality of our feed has significantly improved,» Ermek Mamyrkanov, Director of SotsAgro poultry farm, told.
The farm now produces around 30-40 tons of feed per day, up from 12-15 tons. Increasing volume is also expected to lower prices to meet the demand of local farmers.
«They are supplying this feed to small and medium-sized farms across the country. This means that more farmers have access to quality agricultural inputs, their production and incomes increase,» Charge’d Affairs of the U.S. Embassy in Bishkek Sonata Coulter noted.
The cooperation between USAID and SotsAgro is expected to create more than 100 new jobs for residents of Kaltar and neighboring villages.
Founded in 2012, SotsAgro LLC is now one of the leading full-cycle poultry producers in the Kyrgyz Republic. The company sources inputs from more than 100 smallholder farmers. The feed is used for its own egg production and sold to local small-scale poultry farmers.
The USAID Enterprise Competitiveness Project is a $23 million investment implemented over five years. The project works with small and medium businesses in the fields of textile, food production, agriculture, IT, finance, and others to help expand their production and sales, leading to job creation in the country.
The program has already provided support to more than 120 enterprises across the Kyrgyz Republic.
