Bishkek City Court remands Farid Niyazov in custody

The Bishkek City Court refused to change the measure of restraint for the former presidential chief of staff Farid Niyazov. The lawyers’ requests for house arrest were denied.

Earlier, the Pervomaisky District Court made a decision to keep Farid Niyazov in the detention center 1 until June 18. Then the defense petition for house arrest was also rejected.

A criminal case was opened on the fact of riots on October 9, 2020. The accused are Almazbek Atambayev, the former presidential chief of staff Farid Niyazov and former deputy interior minister Kursan Asanov. Farid Niyazov is also a defendant in criminal cases on the events in Koi-Tash on August 7-8, 2019 and the illegal issuance of passports.
