Leilek District Court delivered a judgment in the case against 11 citizens of Tajikistan accused of illegal border crossing. Press service of the Batken Regional Court reported.
The verdict was delivered on June 3. The court released 11 Tajiks from custody and fined each of them 50,000 soms.
On May 13, the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic reported about the detention of 11 citizens of Tajikistan, natives and residents of Korgoncho village in Jabbor Rasulov district of the neighboring country.
They were suspected of illegal stay on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic and illegal work in one of the coal warehouses in Sulyukta town. The case was initiated under Article 378 (illegal crossing of the state border) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Kyrgyz nationals accused of illegal border crossing are also kept in prisons of the neighboring country. It was reported in mid-February that 39 Kyrgyzstanis were detained in Tajikistan for illegal border crossing in 2021 and the violators were sentenced to various terms of imprisonment.
In May, employees of the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Tajikistan held meetings with citizens of Kyrgyzstan serving sentences in correctional facilities of the neighboring republic. However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not report the exact number of Kyrgyzstanis held in prisons in Tajikistan.
