Kyrgyzstan needs to change its attitude towards the national defense issue. Defense Minister Baktybek Bekbolotov said at a meeting of the parliamentary committee on social policy.
The committee is discussing the draft law on amendments to the law on war veterans, Armed Forces and home front workers.
The official noted that the document regulates the issue of payment of compensations to military personnel participating in peacekeeping operations.
«Why are we asking this question? In January, 151 servicemen of Kyrgyzstan participated in the CSTO peacekeeping mission in Kazakhstan. It turned out that there are no laws stipulating such compensation. We were able to transfer money to them only a month ago. Unfortunately, war is on the threshold. If we do not change our views of state security today, it will be hard tomorrow,» Baktybek Bekbolotov said.
