Conclusions on the feasibility of a free trade agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the United Arab Emirates may be presented this year. The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) reported.
Minister of Trade of the EEC Andrey Slepnev discussed the current state and prospects of development of mutual trade and economic relations with the UAE Minister of State for Foreign TradeThani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi. The meeting was held online.
«I would like to emphasize once again that we consider the UAE as one of the most promising partners for cooperation,» Andrey Slepnev said.
He said that in April the EEC Council adopted an order to form a joint research group to study the feasibility of a free trade agreement between the EAEU and the UAE. The parties spoke in favor of speeding up the process of preparing a group report. This will make it possible to consider start of negotiations as early as at the end of the year at the next EAEU summit.
«In general, we have a strong consensus on the development of interaction with the UAE. Last week, the leaders of the Union reaffirmed their support for deepening cooperation in their speeches at the meeting in Bishkek,» EEC Minister of Trade concluded.
