Incidence of chickenpox increases sevenfold in Kyrgyzstan

Incidence of chickenpox has increased in Kyrgyzstan. The Department of State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance reported.

At least 7,495 cases of chickenpox were registered in the republic for four months. Most of the cases are in children under the age of 14.

Only 972 cases were registered during the same period in 2021. «The incidence has increased 7.7 times,» the department noted.

Chickenpox is an acute viral infection with airborne transmission, characterized by the appearance of a rash in the form of small vesicles on the skin and mucous membranes. Chickenpox in adults is much more severe than in children and can cause serious complications.
