According to the head of Heritage of Great Nomads National Holding Tengiz Bolturuk, employees and equipment have been removed from the central pit, specialists are now studying the situation.
Tengiz Bolturuk will also visit the mine in order to monitor the developing situation.
He called the formation of cracks and movement of the walls of the open pit a natural phenomenon. According to him, similar movement has already occurred before — in 2002 and 2006.
Earlier, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers instructed to find out the causes of acceleration of movement of the eastern and northeastern walls of the Central section of Kumtor mine; submit proposals on priority measures to reduce the speed and stop the movement of the eastern and northeastern walls of the Central section of Kumtor mine; develop measures for the safety of mining operations in the area of the eastern and northeastern walls of the Central section of Kumtor mine.
