Sadyr Japarov congratulates veterans on Victory Day

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov took part in a meeting-requiem on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

He laid flowers at the Eternal Flame and paid tribute to the memory of those who died in the Great Patriotic War with a moment of silence.

Addressing the veterans of the World War II and the home front workers, the head of state noted that Victory Day is a national holiday that has become a symbol of military prowess, courage and glory.

«On this day, with a special feeling of respect, we remember the unprecedented feat of our fathers and grandfathers, who bravely fought on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War and selflessly worked on the home front for the sake of the Great Victory, peaceful life and freedom of future generations. The names of Kyrgyz soldiers are inscribed in history in golden letters. The eternal memory of their great feat will forever remain in our hearts and will inspire us to new achievements for the further development of our beloved Motherland,» he said.

Sadyr Japarov added that we have no right to forget those to whom we owe our lives and our freedom.

«The immortal deeds of fathers and grandfathers will forever shine in the sky of military glory as an example and standard of military prowess and honor, patriotism, courage and heroism. More than 360,000 Kyrgyz people took part in this war, over 150,000 of them received high state awards for their courage and heroism, including 22 fellow countrymen became full holders of the Order of Glory, and 77 became Heroes of the Soviet Union,» he said.

The President recalled that, unfortunately, more than 100,000 Kyrgyzstanis died and went missing during the Great Patriotic War.

«Years will pass, but the names of our countrymen, heroic soldiers, all those who gave their lives for the sake of saving humanity from fascism, for the sake of the happiness of their native country and all peoples on Earth will never be forgotten. Unfortunately, the ranks of our dear veterans, those who know the price of a real Victory, are thinning from year to year. It is our duty and obligation to surround them with attention and care, not only on holidays, but also in everyday life. We bow down before all of you for your heroism at the front, for your labor achievements on the home front. I wish you all good health, longevity, happiness and prosperity, and peace and prosperity to Kyrgyzstan!» he said.
