The Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic intends to step up its participation in the Kyrgyz Stock Exchange and plans to consider the possibility of becoming a shareholder of the exchange and the central depository. Press service of the organization reports.
The Finance Minister Almaz Baketaev visited the Kyrgyz Stock Exchange. He said that the ministry was ready to assist in the development of the precious metals market, commodity sector, increase trading in state and municipal securities.
«I propose to organize a Coordination Council, which will include representatives of the Ministry of Finance of Kyrgyzstan, the Financial Market Regulation and Supervision Service, the Kyrgyz Stock Exchange, the Central Securities Depository, and the State Property Management Fund to discuss further development of the aforementioned areas,» Almaz Baketaev said.
During the meeting the sides also discussed the issue of stock exchange trade in government securities, which are now sold on the platform of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic. In addition, the meeting participants discussed the issue of activation of the secondary market for government securities to increase liquidity and attract retail investors, in particular the population.
