YouTube blocks Russian state-funded media channels

YouTube announced that it had begun blocking access globally to state-funded Russian media channels. Reuters reported citing a representative of the service.

«Our community guidelines prohibit content that denies, minimizes or trivializes well-documented violent events, and we remove content about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine that violates this policy,» Reuters quotes the YouTube spokesman Farshad Shadloo as saying.

«According to this, we also block YouTube channels associated with Russian state-funded media,» he explained.

At the moment, YouTube has blocked the channels of Rossiya Segodnya media group, in particular RIA Novosti and Spuntik.

Situation in Ukraine remains complicated. Fighting continues. Russia started a special military operation on February 24, 2022. The number of military and civilian casualties continues to grow. Many states have imposed and continue to impose severe sanctions on Russia.
