Over the past month, the gross international reserves decreased by $215.2 million. Compared to January last year, they increased by $15.4 million. At the same time, the highest level of reserves was in September 2021 — $3,241.14 billion.
The National Bank uses the reserves to smooth out sharp fluctuations in the foreign exchange market. Last year, it conducted 15 interventions, selling $698,95 million. In January 2022, the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic conducted two interventions, selling $156.6 million.
