Traumatology Department to be opened at National Hospital

Department of Traumatology will be opened at the National Hospital in Bishkek. The press center of the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The ministry recalled that the hospital is a multidisciplinary medical and preventive institution providing highly specialized inpatient and outpatient medical care to the population.

The Chief Physician of the National Hospital Toktobai Maanaev noted that the material and technical base of the hospital has been improved with the support of development partners. «Current repair work has been completed in the Departments of Transfusiology, Maxillofacial Surgery, Urology, Vascular Surgery, Proctology, the therapeutic building, as well as in the catering unit. The Department of Neurosurgery received endoscopic equipment that allows to perform operations without craniotomy. Previously, patients were forced to travel abroad for such operations, paying large sums of money. We are expecting more equipment for neurosurgical operations,» he said.

Toktobai Maanaev added that a Traumatology Department for 30 beds will be opened in the near future, the order is being prepared.

«Earlier, there were six Traumatology Departments in the National Hospital, but then they were all closed. Now we want to resume treatment of such patients. We have a sufficient number of high quality personnel. I would also like to note that people get multiple traumas in traffic accidents, not only fractures, and consultations of vascular surgeons, neurosurgeons, ophthalmologists and other specialists are often required. Coordinated and prompt care will help save the lives of many of our patients. We will soon receive a CT scanner and an angiograph for diagnostics,» he added.
