Russian scientists have developed a test system to detect the Omicron strain. Interfax reports.
According to its data, specialists from the Institute of Chemical Biology and Fundamental Medicine (Novosibirsk), Kirov Military Medical Academy (St. Petersburg) and Modern Laboratory Technologies biotech company have developed a test system that simultaneously detects the presence of genetic material of coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 and determines whether it belongs to Omicron variant.
It is expected that the test system will be used to ensure anti-epidemic safety. The material used for the test is a nasal and oral swab. The test takes the same amount of time as traditional PCR diagnostics.
Creators of the test system hope that they will be able to obtain a registration certificate for the medical product in the near future.
