Kyrgyz-Chinese cooperation issues discussed at Cabinet of Ministers

Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov met with the Special Representative of the Government of China on Eurasian Affairs Li Hui. Press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported.

During the meeting, the parties discussed topical issues of trade and economic cooperation, including an increase in the volume of cargo traffic at the Kyrgyz-Chinese checkpoints.

Akylbek Japarov stressed that Kyrgyzstan attaches great importance to the comprehensive development of interstate relations and multifaceted cooperation with China. He noted that in 2022 the countries will celebrate the 30^th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

«Over the years, the countries have built and maintain good-neighborly, friendly, trusting relations. Our cooperation is characterized by stable partnership and mutual support on all issues that meet the fundamental interests of the peoples of the two countries,» he said.

He thanked the PRC government for humanitarian assistance during the coronavirus pandemic and for providing support in ensuring food security.

The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers noted the importance of the implementation of the China —Kyrgyzstan — Uzbekistan railway construction project, which is strategic for the Kyrgyz Republic and will allow the republic to become a transit country. He spoke in favor of further intensifying cooperation within the framework of One Belt, One Road initiative.

The Special Representative of the Government of China on Eurasia Li Hui noted a high level of bilateral relations and multifaceted cooperation between the countries.

«The PRC will continue to be a trusting and reliable neighbor and partner for Kyrgyzstan. We are also interested in expanding bilateral cooperation,» he said.

Li Hui noted that the high level of Kyrgyz-Chinese relations makes an important contribution to ensuring the security of the region as a whole.
