Islambek Kenzhekulov, commander of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, was detained in Bishkek. Own sources told 24.kg news agency.
He was detained by the officers of the Military Prosecutor’s Office.
«It is known that Islambek Kenzhekulov was detained in the framework of a criminal case on embezzlement of money in the Internal Troops. He was placed in the temporary detention facility of the Main Internal Affairs Department of Bishkek. A measure of restrain will be chosen for him within 48 hours,» the sources said.
The Military Prosecutor’s Office earlier opened a criminal case on the fact of embezzlement of money by officials of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The money intended for the purchase of food and clothing for the personnel was illegally transferred to the accounts of front companies and subsequently embezzled. The damage amounted to 33,946,866 soms. Three defendants in the case are in hiding.
